Cloudy Skies Can Still Mean Clear Roads: Snow and Ice Removal Services

The winter months offer their own forms of comfort, such as cozy fireside chats or snuggling with loved ones under thick blankets, but it is also accompanied by annoying disturbances and potential dangers. Snow is often portrayed as a beautiful and fun weather event, and just like in shows such as Charlie Brown, people would be expected to frolic amongst the powdery hills and skate excitedly on the ice covered lake. However, reality paints a vastly different scene. If left up to the weather, snow and ice can ruin a city or town by blocking roads, creating driving hazards, and freezing essential services such as landlines and other means of generating power.

Prevention of these calamities is the priority for many colder states, and Pennsylvania is seeking bids from qualified contractors to provide on-call snow removal services and application of granular deicing materials in areas designated by the station/office Commander and in compliance with the specifications provided in documents listed in the bid. These services can greatly improve the quality of life of citizens in Pennsylvania and can help keep them safe during the cold months. Deicing services in particular are incredibly important. Snow can give blockages and increase traffic, but at least it is a visible inconvenience. Ice is dangerous not only because it is nearly impossible to see but also because it can greatly exacerbate road accidents, and in winter months where the sun sets early, there is surely going to be plenty of those. Ice can make an average accident into one that endangers even more lives and can increase traffic time from annoying to downright frustrating.

This is not to say snow is not dangerous. In emergency situations, a clear road can make all the difference, and keeping important roads clear is the duty of every city. Police, firetrucks, and EMS trucks all need open roads to effectively do their jobs, and think of how terrible it would be if someone's life was negatively impacted simply due to snow blocking the way. Keeping these roads open can be the difference between ten minute drives and twenty, and that is more than enough time to be the difference between life and death.
